About the Connected Earth Thesaurus
The version of the Connected Earth Telecommunications Object Thesaurus that is live on the Connected Earth website is version 1.0, launched in April 2010.
The creation of the Telecommunications Object Thesaurus was funded by BT’s Committee for Responsible and Sustainable Business, as a contribution to BT’s commitment to safeguarding and maintaining telecommunications heritage.
The Telecommunications Object Thesaurus was built by Stuart Holm (thesaurus specialist), the Connected Earth Partners and Neil Johannessen (additional subject specialist).
In order that the thesaurus remains a live tool, the thesaurus is hosted online. Users can explore the thesaurus through a search facility as well as through hierarchical and alphabetical listings. In addition, users are encouraged to register and add to the body of knowledge through the inclusive wiki - contributing scope notes, non-preferred terms and supporting images. Please download the Guide to Connected Earth’s Telecommunications Object Thesaurus for information on the thesaurus, structure, vocabulary, terms and relationships.
To suggest additional preferred terms, to provide feedback or for any enquiries concerning the Telecommunications Object Thesaurus please email connectedearth@bt.com. Suggested new preferred terms will be evaluated by the Connected Earth partners and added periodically – additions of new preferred terms will be considered to be a new version of the Telecommunications Object Thesaurus.
